One of my last posts!

I want to thank you all for checking in on my Blog for the past few years but as I said with my last post, with 2015 upon me I have looked at my business and have made a few changes.  My art is no longer a hobby but slowly becoming my full time job and so I have now launched my new web page.

Please visit me there as I will still have my blog attached to that space but I am able to showcase my art in a cleaner and more visible way.

To 2015 and all the changes that are coming with it!

In Silence We Stand Alone - FOR SALE

With 2015 upon me I took a look at my art and really wanted to try something new to challenge myself - so I looked to nature.  I have always loved looking into the trees and wondering what I would see.  So having loved this image I decided that this was where I must start. After taking a good deep breath and tried it.

As I went along I found that I did not paint this piece much different than my beloved turtles.  It consists of layering of colour and variance in shades.  But what stood out the most for me with this piece was the pinks.  This is a colour I have not worked with too much with my other paintings.

As I have stated before I sometimes name my pieces for events that are occurring in my life, while I am creating them.  I named this piece "In Silence We Stand Alone" to represent those times that when  we do not stand up for what is right, what we believe in or what we are experiencing and choose to stay silent - even if we are among others we are still alone.

It is through our silence that we isolate ourselves, and if we are in a group it is for appearances only.

Sweetheart - SOLD

What a pure joy it was creating this painting!  When I first got the commission to create this piece I was truly intimidated by the size of it - as this is the largest piece that I have created to date.  But I have learned that if I am a little worried about the piece I will usually love it in the end!  I even learned through this piece that the turtles that nest at Turtle Beach in Hawaii are micro-chipped and thus are known to the volunteers and scientists that are trying to help preserve them.

With the help from Malama na Honu this turtle was identified as Olivia-Dawn.  Technology is amazing an internet search and a few emails we can find out these details on an animal, even though we live no where even remotely close to them.

In The Lead - FOR SALE

I was very lucky that I could create this piece from a photograph that my cousin had taken.  I had been looking for a horse image to create and no sooner did I see this piece.  In the original photo the horses are at a distance from each other but I saw them as a pair running.  This is one of the last pieces that I will be showing before the end of the year.

Well after many years of not wanting to be apart of the Facebook world I have now joined.  Check me out there as I find that site is updated regularly with my art classes as well as new posts.
I will still update the blog but Facebook is easier for people to get immediate notifications on my art shows, new images created and classes being offered.

Finding the Light - FOR SALE

I found with this painting that I really had to look at finding the light within the turtles positioning.  The picture that I worked from had hardly any highlights it consisted of mostly low lights.  Do to this I found this one a great challenge to get the look that I wanted from it.
I find when I get to these difficult times in the piece that I am working on; I ask my husband for his opinion.  As much as I would like him to tell me that it is amazing and I need not touch a thing with it.  I appreciate it when he is honest and tells me how he sees it.  With this piece in particular I am grateful as I persisted and found the light that I was looking for.

Inner Reflection - For Sale

I find it amazing when that I can finish a painting and even though I have seen it for days on end I am stunned with how it looks when it is completed.  I am glad that my husband challenged me with this piece - he wanted to see what I could do with the water reflection in this piece and I am happy with how it turned out.  In the end I found it difficult to come up with a title for the painting and finally choose Inner Reflection.

As I paint I find my mind drifts to many thought patterns and with this piece it had me dive deep into my inner reflection of myself.  Lucky for me the turtle also had a reflection look upon which makes the title perfect!

The Walk - SOLD

I was working on this piece while I was at the Art Walk this year and I had two people offer to buy it before it was even half done - one of them did in fact purchase it from me.  I enjoy my turtles so much!

I found it hard to work on this piece while I sat outside as the paint was drying on my brush before I could even get it on the canvas.  So once I got it home I had to repaint a large portion of it so that I was happy with it.

Art Walk 2014

The Art Walk done again for another year, and I am so happy that we had great weather this year!

It is a great experience as an Artist to show your work out in public and this year was no different.  I have many great people stop by with wonderful comments on the work I do.

While some of the individuals that purchased from me in past years stopped by to say "Hi" - which I think is great!

Through all the support those of you gave me this weekend I was able to make a beautiful donation to the Sea Turtle Restoration Project.  Thank you!

Looking forward to next years festival.

15 INCH BY 8 INCH, Mix Media on Crezone
The strips represent the order that we have in our lives while the flicks of colour represent the chaos that is also there within our lives.  This is my version as to what it looks like.  These paintings are sealed so that they can be hung outside.  I have had the first one I have created hanging in my backyard for 4 years now - through all the seasons and it still looks as it did as the day I created it.

17 INCH BY 10.5 INCH, Mix Media on Crezone
Spring is a time of flowers and colour.  I painted my version of flowers in the background and had rain falling down. These paintings are sealed so that they can be hung outside.  I have had the first one I have created hanging in my backyard for 4 years now - through all the seasons and it still looks as it did as the day I created it.

Emotions - For sale

10.5 INCH BY 17 INCH, Mix Media on Crezone
There are bubbles in the background to represent the emotions that we experience as they bubble from the surface.  The last colour that I have placed on the image is pink as when all the emotions have left us we should always remember to come back to love.  These paintings are sealed so that they can be hung outside.  I have had the first one I have created hanging in my backyard for 4 years now - through all the seasons and it still looks as it did as the day I created it.

A Day In My Crazy Life - For Sale

I enjoy the abstracts that I work on as they are completely different from my turtles. This piece are the colours that I regularly see in my life.  Running after 2 boys and getting them to their functions and then trying to keep my life in order.  I find sometimes life is just a swirl of colour around me.  I placed blue as the last colour on the board as blue is the colour that I call on to help keep me sane in all aspects of my life.  This is my angel.  These paintings are sealed so that they can be hung outside.  I have had the first one I have created hanging in my backyard for 4 years now - through all the seasons and it still looks as it did as the day I created it.

Where Heaven and Earth Meet - FOR SALE

When I first saw this image I fell in love with it.  I was taken by the waves as I found to me they could almost be clouds, as if heaven and earth were entwined on this beach.  I had a lot of fun working on this piece.  I am always amazed how I will sit at the canvas and think that I know what colours are in the shell of the turtle,  and yet as I paint I see different ones emerge.
